Extreme Event Rentals
Are you worried that supplying rentals for your planned event might be too “extreme”?
Think it might be too far away, too remote, too hard to reach? You don’t need to worry! Just check out how Avalon Event Rentals supplied the Natural Selection Tour at Baldface Lodge and you’ll see that we know how to handle event rentals…anywhere!
Supplying the Natural Selection Tour this February was no small feat, with Baldface Lodge nestled in the Selkirk Mountains at an elevation of 6,700 feet and has no passable roads in the winter months so it's only accessible by helicopter or a boat ride followed by snowmobile.
The setup took three employees and two days, and included:
Four types of tents, with door walls for access:
- 20x30 media tent
- 20x20 riders’ tent
- 15x15 and 10x20 storage tents
- 10x20 judges’ tent, set up on 12’ high scaffolding
- 2x2 anchor plates to secure the tents, installed 4.5’ deep
- Heaters for four of the tents, each 170,000 BTU fuelled by 100 lbs propane tanks
- 8 - 8x2.5 tables and 20 chairs
- Carpets for two tents
Transporting the gear from our Kelowna warehouse to the mountain involved driving the supplies nearly 400km and over the Needles-Fauquier Ferry across Arrow Lakes and down to Nelson Airport. But that was just stage one!
The gear was loaded into cargo nets and transported by helicopter 10 minutes to the mountain, taking four trips in total. Once arrived, the team moved about the mountain by snowmobile, installing the anchor plates and setting up two tents on the peak of the mountain.
Sound easy so far? On the second day of setup, the Avalon Event Rental team was unable to return to Nelson by helicopter, so they bundled up, hopped on a snowmobile for a 21km trek down the mountain, then by boat for a 10-minute ride across the West Arm of Kootenay Lake back to Nelson.
And that’s that - at least until it was time to return and take it all down and do the whole thing in reverse! Check out the video below for more details and get in touch if you have an "extreme" event rental scenario - we'll be there!
